Cheque, please! What does the future hold for cheques?

The advent of new payment methods allowing for electronic transfer of funds between people and businesses without the associated cost of paper handling has some countries questioning the long term viability of our old friend, the cheque. However, there are large segments of the population that still cling to their cheque books, and who will continue to favour this quaint form of payment until their country’s banking system dictates otherwise.
